Can disease be lurking in your house, without your knowledge? Yes. It may be found as mold lurking most anywhere, from the bathroom to the basement, to the carpeting in your bedroom. Mold is another word for fungus.
Since household mold was addressed in a previous post, this posting is on your personal mold. Yes, you may be harboring mold in your body, and it's all too common; you may not even guess it is there. You know it's there is you have a health issue such as diabetes. And there are scores more health problems where mold, or at least, the milder form, candida, is at the root of the problem.
One of the best, and perhaps the easiest and non-invasive methods of addressing this issue is to start consuming herbs or teas, or therapeutic quality essential oils that are known to help the body better attack fungus issues. There are actually quite a few of these, and if you do have a fungal issue in the body(mold is termed as a fungal issue when it's inside the body, and generally as a mold issue when it's outside the body), it would be wise to consume teas or oils at least twice daily, or use the oils topically twice or more daily.
Using aromatherapy internally is not generally recommended if you have no idea what you are doing, since you may experience certain discomforts doing this, or, depending on what brand of oils you are using, they may be chemicals, which will do you potentially, much more harm than good.
Just a few of the common essential oils known to be anti-fungal include:
1. Oregano oil(this one is hot, better to use on the bottom of the feet rather than internally, unless you buy it is an enteric coated capsule)
2. Cinnamon Bark oil. The bark is different than the leaf, and the leaf is considerably less money. The bark is more potent on mold.
3. Clove oil. The first two oils listed are hotter than this one. You can take this one as a therapeutic quality internally, but when starting out, never take more than 3 drops of any of these, as the detox may cause you to feel very sick.
4. Geranium oil. This one has the added benefit of helping detox the liver.
5. Thyme oil. Not as hot as the first 3 oils, but slightly warm. A moderately potent anti-fungal.
6. Pine oil. This one is an all around first aid type oil, as well as being anti-fungal.
7. Frankincense oil. This one as a therapeutic oil is fairly expensive in comparison to the rest, just to let you know.
8. Lemongrass oil. This is a powerful anti-fungal and digestive aid. Getting this oil on your hands will stain you yellow for several hours.
There are more oils than these that are anti-fungal, but I'm attempting to keep this post shorter rather than longer.
Some herbs/foods that are anti-fungal include:
1. Licorice
2. Olive leaf
3. Pau d'Arco
4. Turmeric
5. Black Walnut Hulls
6. Chapparal
7. Garlic
8. Chamomile
9. Goldenrod

Humidity In The House.
We all know humidity is around us at all times. And yet, how many of us actually check our household humidity to see if we have the proper amount of it? Or how many of us actually have any idea how much is enough, and how much is too much, or not enough?
The indoor humidity should be relative to the outdoor temperatures. For instance, if the outdoor temp is below 0 degrees fahrenheit, the indoor humidity is generally good at around 30-35%. If the outdoor temp is above 32 degrees, then the humidity should be between 35-50%. Be careful though, because when you get over 50% indoor humidity, mold may become an issue. And you do not want mold in your house.
Speaking of mold, if you have a home with a basement, the moist soil underneath the concrete floor can cause the carpeting on the basement floor to become moist, which then becomes a breeding ground for mold. Mold is a hazard in the home, and it can become life endangering. In some localities, if household mold is bad enough, the home is burned to the ground, and the insurance covers it. Most of the time though, I doubt insurance will cover this.
Here are symptoms of too much, and too little, humidity in the home.
Too much
Windows may condensate
You may have allergic reactions
You may have water stains on walls and ceilings
You may have musty smells
Too little
Your skin, and lips, are likely to be dry and cracked
You may have a scratchy nose and throat
You may have breathing problems
You may find static electricity becomes a problem, especially around electronics
Many health issues are directly correlated, although not usually by the U.S. medical system, to moldy living conditions. These may include type l diabetes, asthma, allergies, headaches, sore eyes, coughing, frequent or seemingly never ending colds or flu.
Installing a hygrometer, or as many people call them, a humidity gauge or humidity sensor, into the home, can offer great benefit when working to maintain the proper moisture content. If you ever saw your parents or grandparents with a pot of water on the stove, there is a high probability that is, at least in part, why it was there.

How To Clean Your Living Area Without Using Chemicals
I am a fond believer in using non-toxic substances, as opposed to chemicals such as 409, bleach, Lysol, etc. It is well known these products are designed to sterilize, to kill. And being chemicals, they cannot be good for your body or brain.
So what is a person to use, instead of toxic materials? Actually, there are many natural variations, many of which work better than the toxic stuff. For instance, have you ever used true lemon oil for cleaning grease? It works faster than almost anything for this.
I had a former employer literally have his eyes bug out of his head, when he saw me put therapeutic quality lemon oil on my greasy hands, rub them together, and within 2 seconds they were clean. He exclaimed: "I don't believe what I just saw"! I always have therapeutic quality on hand, because it is more assured to be free of chemicals. It's gotten pretty difficult on this planet to have no chemicals in anything, even when you grow it yourself, due to chemicals in our air space, from planes, factories, cars, etc.
If you find you have a mold problem in your refrigerator from produce gone bad, the essential oil blend of Thieves, is known by many to kill fungus. I use this blend quite a bit, mostly for personal health. I have used it inside the refrigerator though, with great success. Someone told me they diffused it into their bathroom for 24 hours when their contractor found they had mold in the wall behind the shower, and it killed all the mold.
This site has some good suggestions also, for using "green" cleaning products.

More on Aromatherapy
I hope your week has started off well. All my days are incredibly beautiful. I have been diffusing the sweet essence of lemon oil into my house for several hours. This does multiple things, such as helping to purify the air, gives a very pleasant scent, helps control mold that may be growing in your house.
According to Jean Valnet MD, the vaporized essence of lemon can kill meningococcus bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, Staphylococcus aureus in two hours, and Pneumococcus bacteria within three hours. Even a 0.2% solution of lemon oil can kill diphtheria bacteria in 20 minutes and inactivate tuberculosis.
Rene-Maurice Gattefosse had to learn the hard way how aromatherapy works. Rene-Maurice Gattefosse Ph.D. Follow the link to see some of his story. Here is another link which also relates to Gattefosse.
The essential oil blend of Peace and Calming may work well for children with ADD. Simply applying on the bottom of the feet as they go to bed may make a world of difference in their behavior. Have a child with ADD? Why not try this? It can't hurt, and won't hurt your child.
The oil blend Valor has been dubbed "Chiropractor in a bottle". When I first learned of this over 12 years ago, I was highly skeptical. After all, how could a simply topical application of a few aromatic oils help the spine re-align itself? To put it bluntly, and without getting anyone in trouble with our less than honest FDA, I will simply state that I became a believer very quickly when I used it on myself. I have cut my chiropractic visits by over 95%.
The aromatherapy site's sponsor; ID #119459, Mike Poitevint, also became a believer many years ago, not so much with that blend, but with a single oil recommended to him for 'irreversible' nerve damage his wife had. I enjoy researching, using, and teaching health.
The oil blend called Purification may neutralize poisonous insect bites very rapidly, including the black widow and brown recluse. How do I know? I have been bitten by both.
Eucalyptus oil rubbed on the sides of the nose may stop a runny nose nearly instantly. When I used it for this purpose, I was very happy.
