Getting Restless?
Being restless can be caused by several things, such as anxiety. However, much of it is caused by the lack of a single mineral, magnesium. Magnesium is known as the body's "spark plug", because it activates enzymes and of course, works in conjunction with other minerals and vitamins, do do its job and help others do theirs. A magnesium deficiency is not only common in the modern world, it is more of a major epidemic, with the medical authorities stating they believe approximately 85% of Americans are magnesium deficient. I believe the true amount is closer to 95%.
Magnesium deficiency presents itself in more than one way. One, as suggested above, is not being able to relax, both physically and mentally. Some people are affected more on one side of that coin than the other. Magnesium is required for the body to utilize calcium, and if you drink milk, you must get enough magnesium in your diet, or you are setting yourself up for several issues, including type l diabetes, restless leg syndrome, osteoporosis, and more. I find the powdered version from Peter Gilham, which is called Natural Calm, is by far the best one to use. Simply mix with hot water and sip as it cools. If you get muscle tightness or cramps for no apparently reason, this is most likely the cause, although potassium may be the issue here as well. If you are unable to lay still in bed as you're trying to get some sleep, this is most likely the cause. If you are angry, this may help relax your anger and help you turn it around into a more peaceful attitude. The place where I buy my Natural Calm is here:
Lorien's Herbs and Natural Foods
I would suggest on the powdered version of magnesium, to start off taking approximately a half teaspoon. I find the plain version, not the flavored, is better for my tastes. Keep the magnesium water in the mouth for at least several seconds. If you have muscle cramps, and assuming the cause is a lack of magnesium(this is the more common reason, especially for diabetics), the cramps will disappear quickly. Usually within 5-10 minutes. Taking magnesium in the capsule or tablet will take much longer, usually hours. Don't be confused or mislead by labels on packaged products which show magnesium stearate. This is a chemical, listed on the MSDS sheets, as being a health hazard. This is no way can help your health. Always read your labels. This is in a large amount of packaged products, especially drugs and supplements.

Bugs
Mosquitoes. Are you plagued by them? Mosqutoes are very sensitive to certain things, one of which is your body scent. I received an email from another healer a couple of days ago, which had testimonials from people who had this very issue. When taking vitamin B-1, or Thiamine, in large enough quantities, they all stated this kept mosquitoes at bay. And since I rarely take just plain vitamins, but whole food supplements such as barley grass powder, alfalfa powder, chlorella powder and more instead, I thought perhaps I should see if this was true.
For the first 40 years of my life I was never bothered by mosquitoes, even when they were thick enough in the air you could swat them with a table knife. And yet for the last 3 years, this has changed. So I set off on my search for some Thiamine.
Unfortunately I was unable to find vitamin B-1 in stores or online that were free of chemicals. Apparently the vitamin companies are either bought off by the drug companies, intimidated by them or the FDA, or they are run by the drug companies. There never used to be chemicals in our vitamins. I still have some containers from years ago that list no chemicals. Of course, these companies are generally not obligated to list all ingredients either. The chemicals involved include "magnesium stearate", stearic acid, titanium dioxide, silicon dioxide, and more. All these are listed on the MSDS sheets as being health hazards, although the titanium dioxide is listed as hazardous when ingested, or inhaled, or put on the skin, but non-toxic. A health hazard but non-toxic? I don't understand that one. Of course, the msds sheets are created by the manufacturer, who is going to give you only the info they have to, to help offset concern. As a rule anyway.
So I did a web search to find foods, herbs, essential oils with high amounts of B vitamins. Not finding much to go on, I ended up using Bee Pollen and Brewers Yeast, which are both high sources of B vitamins. I read that this takes a little while to build up in your system, but I had some results in a few hours. When I was out weeding the garden tonite, the mosquitoes were landing, but I did not get bit. So apparently I have been lacking B vitamins. You may be as well.
Because I drink fresh berry and greens smoothies, I am now mixing bee pollen and brewers yeast into them. The taste is a bit interesting with brewers yeast. And don't for a second believe anyone who tells you that yeast is yeast; that brewers yeast is not good for you. It is a phenomenal food just as bee pollen is.
And getting back to the smoothies, because I prefer variety, I will do just berry smoothies, berry and greens smoothies, berry and raw egg smoothies, and on occasion add some root veggies in as well, such as radish or potato. I generally add kefir to the mix, along with inulin, since this is a pre-biotic and like kefir, good for the digestive system. I nearly always use banana in my smoothies, sometimes kiwi, sometimes pear, sometimes apple, orange, etc. You get the idea.
You can do a google search for smoothie recipes. or get the book from Victoria Boutenko, titled "Green For Life".

Beating The Odds
The American Cancer Society estimates that one person dies of colorectal cancer every 9 minutes. No surprise really, due to the American diet. Colorectal cancer is the second most fatal cancer in men and third in women.
Ways to help prevent colon cancer include refusing red meat. Why? Because meat in general is very acidic, and red meat is higher in acidic nature than fish, chicken or turkey.
Red meat, unless verifiably organic, also is loaded with chemicals and hormones given to the cattle. But don't get the idea that fish, chicken and turkey are free of these chemicals. Organically grown should be, commercially grown never are free of them.
Chemicals are sprayed on, to help prevent flies and related critters, injected to give as anti-biotics and as hormone enhancers. Plus, these animals are generally eating foods grown on contaminated soil, and then sprayed with more contaminants. Chemicals are never healthy for any living creature.
Four steps you can take to improve your colonic health are:
1. Get more fiber in the diet. Natural fiber direct out of raw foods is best, but supplements will do. Just be sure if you take this in capsule form, they do not have magnesium stearate, or stearic acid as part of the capsule or fiber formula. Very harmful to the health.
2. High quality oils, such as Coconut, Olive, Fish, Flax and Borage are essential for protecting your colon from cancer, and other abnormalities. Several studies have shown that the more fish oil you consume, the better your chance of staying cancer free.
However, be aware that some fish oils have added vitamin A. Too much vitamin A will be a problem, if taken for long. The body can overdose on direct vitamin A. However, it cannot overdose on beta-carotenes, or any carotenes. The body creates the vitamin A from the carotenes as needed.
Too much vitamin A will cause liver toxicity, and a general feeling of disease. Just be aware..
3. Taking probiotics are very helpful, to keep the beneficial bacteria populated in the colon, and to help keep the harmful bacteria in check. Harmful bacteria includes candida, which is always in your digestive tract.
4. Getting enough enzymes is crucial to your digestive health, in fact, your health in general. Any food you consume should also include live enzymes. Canned and cooked foods do not have live enzymes. Enyzmes include Protease, Lipase, Amylase, Lactase, Cellulase, and Invertase.
Vegetarian foods generally help the body keep cancer away, and help if you do have cancer. For instance, Lutein and Zeaxanthin, pigments found in spinach, broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes, and carrots, have been shown to reduce colon cancer. (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2000)
In 2004, the Journal of Clinical Nutrition, at the UCLA Center For Human Nutrition, found the protective effects of Calcium and vitamin D work(when taken together) to offer some serious protection against colon cancers.
This has been said before in my blogs, but it bears repeating. You should have a minimum of 2 bowel movements per day, and 3 is preferable, to help maintain good health. Considering colon cancer starts in the digestive system, and the digestive system comprises roughly 80% of our immune system, does this not make extremely good sense?

Do You Know What's In The Capsules You Put In Your Body?
If you think you are helping your health by buying supplements or drugs you might want to think again. Sometimes you are, much of the time you are actually hurting yourself.
There are chemicals added to capsules, and sometimes tablets, that are very harmful to the body. One is Calcium Stearate. Check out this link, and this link, to find out why.
Anything with "stearic acid" in the ingredients list is not good for you. Magnesium stearate is known to coat the cells of the body to prevent oxygen/nutrient absorption. This one process is much of what causes disease.
Check out this site on Magnesium Stearate. These links are well worth your time. If you don't understand the information these sites are giving you, please go through them again. I
