The Benefits Of Magnesium

Getting Restless?

Being restless can be caused by several things, such as anxiety. However, much of it is caused by the lack of a single mineral, magnesium. Magnesium is known as the body's "spark plug", because it activates enzymes and of course, works in conjunction with other minerals and vitamins, do do its job and help others do theirs. A magnesium deficiency is not only common in the modern world, it is more of a major epidemic, with the medical authorities stating they believe approximately 85% of Americans are magnesium deficient. I believe the true amount is closer to 95%.

Magnesium deficiency presents itself in more than one way. One, as suggested above, is not being able to relax, both physically and mentally. Some people are affected more on one side of that coin than the other. Magnesium is required for the body to utilize calcium, and if you drink milk, you must get enough magnesium in your diet, or you are setting yourself up for several issues, including type l diabetes, restless leg syndrome, osteoporosis, and more. I find the powdered version from Peter Gilham, which is called Natural Calm, is by far the best one to use. Simply mix with hot water and sip as it cools. If you get muscle tightness or cramps for no apparently reason, this is most likely the cause, although potassium may be the issue here as well. If you are unable to lay still in bed as you're trying to get some sleep, this is most likely the cause. If you are angry, this may help relax your anger and help you turn it around into a more peaceful attitude. The place where I buy my Natural Calm is here:
Lorien's Herbs and Natural Foods

I would suggest on the powdered version of magnesium, to start off taking approximately a half teaspoon. I find the plain version, not the flavored, is better for my tastes. Keep the magnesium water in the mouth for at least several seconds. If you have muscle cramps, and assuming the cause is a lack of magnesium(this is the more common reason, especially for diabetics), the cramps will disappear quickly. Usually within 5-10 minutes. Taking magnesium in the capsule or tablet will take much longer, usually hours. Don't be confused or mislead by labels on packaged products which show magnesium stearate. This is a chemical, listed on the MSDS sheets, as being a health hazard. This is no way can help your health. Always read your labels. This is in a large amount of packaged products, especially drugs and supplements.
