Is Your Blood Thin Enough?

There is a medical position that believes especially if you are older, you probably need a blood thinner. And while that is a good idea in some cases, the use of Coumadin, aka, Warfarin, aka, rat poison(these are all one and the same), is not a good idea. There are much better, and natural ways of thinning the blood, and doing it moderately rapidly. Most fresh greens will thin the bloodstream, including sprouts. The essential oil of Wintergreen, simply by rubbing on the skin, may also do the same.

Following is a report sent to me by a natural health researcher, which shows you some information on Warfarin.

Warfarin: Side effects

Where does one start? If you read through the list of the potential dangerous side effects of warfarin, all you really want to do is run for the hills.

According to the website drugs.com, these are just some of the side effects you may experience when taking this drug:

* Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue)
* back, side, muscle, joint, or stomach pain;
* black, tarry, or bloody stools;
* blood in the urine (pink or brown urine);
* bloody or coffee ground-like vomit;
* fainting;
* purple, dark, or painful toes;
* stroke symptoms (e.g. confusion, slurred speech, vision problems, one-sided weakness) and
* unusual bruising or bleeding (e.g. nosebleed, unusual bleeding from gums, increased bleeding from cuts, increased menstrual or vaginal bleeding, coughing up blood, bleeding at the injection site)

The list goes on and the side effects get worse. Also mentioned is the fact that this medication can cause birth defects in an unborn baby and fatal or nonfatal haemorrhage from any tissue or organ...

Oh, and then there’s interactions with other prescription drugs like acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, or any non- steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as well as natural supplements like bromelain, coenzyme Q10, garlic, ginkgo biloba, ginseng and St. John's wort.

You should also avoid the following foods when taking warfarin: liver, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, spinach, Swiss chard, coriander, collards, cabbage, and other green leafy vegetables. Avoid eating cranberries, drinking cranberry juice, or taking cranberry herbal products.

In fact, the information on warfarin is so disheartening that once you know this prescription drug is also used to kill rats, you can’t help but wonder if that’s what it’s ultimately slowly doing to humans taking it too...

The Drug Coumadin

How many patients need to be involved in a study before it's taken seriously?

100? 1,000? 100,000?

How about 1.23 million?

Think that's enough to finally knock down a widely used (and very dangerous) drug?

I doubt it.

After looking at data from 1.23 million patients, researchers have confirmed what I've been warning against for years—that warfarin (sold under the name Coumadin) significantly increases the risk of dying from a traumatic injury. In fact, the death rate for traumatic injuries is more than double for patients on warfarin.

The research was presented at the American College of Surgeons 2009 Clinical Congress, which showed that risk was increased in both elderly and younger patients. And that warfarin therapy brings even more risk for people under 65.

Think about that—if you're younger, you have more of a chance of surviving trauma. So warfarin can have an even bigger effect on your chances of making it through alive.

None of this is really surprising for a drug that got its start as rat poison (that's right). How does that make you feel, if you take Coumadin, to realize it is nothing more than Rat Poison? If you have any doubts, check it out here.
But gets worse. The researchers had felt they were seeing more and more patients on warfarin among their trauma patients, and they were right. In fact, warfarin use in general has been climbing since 2002.

So, more and more people are being dosed with a drug that doubles your risk of dying from a traumatic injury. And there's no end in sight. Sure, there's a lot of talk of adding this information to the "risk profile" for warfarin, but absolutely no talk of pulling it from the market.

Which is ridiculous, considering that there are many totally safe alternatives. Dr. Wright has been using one in his practice for over 30 years with great success: fish oil. Fish oil works by making platelets so slippery that they can't stick together easily to form a clot.

It may not taste all that wonderful, but it does the job(and you can mix it with rice or almond milk if you have trouble choking it down). For blood-thinning purposes, Dr. Wright recommends 2 to 3 tablespoons of cod liver oil each day along with 800-1,000 IU of vitamin E.
