I don't know about you, but I love to garden. Organically, or course. Many people use natural compost from compost bins they have on their property, to increase the nutrient value and taste of their foods. Something else I started doing a few years ago was adding powdered herbs into the soil.
I started with Kelp, but found for a few plants, it was a bit salty, so for the most part now, I use organic alfalfa powder. The plants thrive on this due to the nutrients you have added to the soil. Fertilizers you buy in stores seldom have nutrients to speak of; they are simply an unbalanced form of chemicals, which your food(and your body) would rather do without.
Here is something I would not suggest doing if you are not living a healthy lifestyle, and this is using urine supplementation. While this may not sound appealing, if your diet is clean, your plants will show you how much they love it. It is as if you have given them rocket fuel. The human body does not absorb nutrients well, for a variety of reasons. So the nutrients leave the body through our waste.
When I saw plants that a close friend of mine started this on, from start to about 5 days, I was shocked. She used the urine therapy on just part of a row, and just water on the remainder. The urine part of the row was over 3 times taller in that short period of time, than the rest of the row. And these plants were all about the same height at the start; roughly about an inch. The formula for this: 8 parts water to one part urine. Your plants will appreciate you if you do not have drugs in your body. This includes the use of most hairsprays, since those chemicals absorb directly through the scalp. Just somethings to consider.
