A new study shows a clear link between vitamin D levels and the accumulation of fat in muscle tissue—a factor in muscle strength and overall health. An astonishing 59 percent of studied subjects had too little vitamin D in their blood with nearly a quarter of the group exhibiting serious deficiencies. Vitamin D deficiency is a risk factor for other diseases. The study found an inverse relationship between vitamin D and muscle fat—the lower the levels of vitamin D, the more fat in subjects’ muscles. The study appeared in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, vol. 95 (2010), no. 4, pages 1595 – 1601.”

And I have to add, be sure to have your vitamin D level checked before going on a supplemental binge. Only with supplementation can you overdose on D. ~ Dave
